Cleveland State men’s soccer drew with the Milwaukee Panthers 1-1 on a dreary Saturday night.

The game took place at Krenzler Field and kicked off at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14. With 50 in attendance, the team recognized 13 alumni for the green and white. 

The first half was uneventful, a combined 6 shots were taken with Milkwakee having the majority. The Vikings had a whopping 10 fouls, while the Panthers had seven. The half came to a close with no goals scored.

Within the first 5 minutes of the second half, however, Viking’s Pablo Kawechi scored off an assist from Albert Portas to put Cleveland State up 1-0. Milwaukee responded in the 83rd minute with an unassisted goal to tie the game 1-1

The Vikings had an aggressive half of play with a total of 11 shots taken, 4 more than the Panthers. The score would remain unchanged as the match came to a close in a 1-1 draw. 

This match comes after a 3-0 defeat on Tuesday, Oct. 10 against the Akron Zips, a team sitting in the top 3 in the Horizon League standings, while CSU is 6th. CSU has an overall of 3-7-3 and a conference record of 2-2-2.

The team will face Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. at Hefner Soccer Field.
