Amid ongoing renovations of Fenn Tower, Cleveland State conducted an inspection of the freshman residence complex over spring break, announced in an email sent to the campus community on March 8.
In the email, the University stated that “up-close inspections of Fenn Tower” would be performed by engineers working from a crane.
The announcement also mentioned that safety measures to prevent individuals from walking under the crane or items falling on pedestrians and cars would be in place.
Residents were instructed to change entrance and exit paths to East 24th St. and Euclid Avenue, according to police and traffic control.

The corridor that runs along the sidewalk on Euclid Avenue includes a message from the CSU Department of Residence Life and Housing stating that the ongoing restoration will restore Fenn Tower, “a historic piece of the Cleveland skyline.”

Throughout spring break, Fenn Tower remained open to residents with “minimal inconveniences,” according to the email.
The Cauldron reached out to CSU for comment on the duration and extent of the ongoing renovations on Jan. 17, 2024 and did not receive a response.
