This monthly collection of local arts & entertainment is meant to provide a varied starting point, including dates, times, locations, prices and more, so hopefully, everyone can find something of interest and plan to attend!
From spooky seasonal events to celebrations of Hispanic Heritage Month, October’s events have much to offer.
On Campus:
Oct. 8, 2024: Education Away Fair
Hosted by the Center for International Services and Programs (CISP) from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Center Atrium. Explore opportunities to engage off-campus through study abroad.
Oct. 9, 2024: Fall into CLE
Hosted by the Campus Activities Board from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center. Attend the annual autumnal farmer’s market.
Oct. 16, 2024: Moonlight Serenade
A Speakeasy Night of Jazz: Hosted by the Campus Activities Board from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. An unforgettable evening where the elegance of the Jazz Age comes alive under the glow of the moon. The night will be filled with the soulful sounds of live jazz, featuring some of the most talented musicians at CSU.
Oct. 24, 2024: Fall 2024 CSU Student Organization Fair
Hosted by the Center for Campus Engagement from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center Atrium. Explore more than 200 student-led organizations and clubs, and learn how to get involved on campus.
Downtown:
Oct. 4-6, 2024: Oktoberfest Closing Ceremonies/Bierfest
Celebrated during afternoons and evenings all weekend at Hofbräuhaus Cleveland. Enjoy the last weekend of Oktoberfest with a variety of activities including live music, carnival games, Bierfest Games and Barktoberfest.
Oct. 4-27, 2024: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Presented by the Great Lakes Theater at the Hanna Theater with both matinee and evening performances. Tickets start at $15 for those under 25 years old. Enjoy the classic Shakespeare production of love, fantasy and fairies.
Oct. 18, 2024: Live on the Lawn at Carnegie West
Hosted by the Cleveland Public Library from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Carnegie West. Attendance is free. Celebrate the end of Hispanic Heritage Month with live music, free books and fun-filled family activities.
Oct. 18-19, 2024: Dracula
Presented by the Cleveland Ballet at the Mimi Ohio Theater one weekend only, with tickets starting at $30 with a possible 10% student discount: “A captivating adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic Gothic novel, brought to life through mesmerizing choreography and haunting music.”
Oct. 24-27, 2024: Cleveland Buried History Days
Organized by Canalway, Erie Street Cemetery along with four others in the Cleveland area, this event will be open to the public from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. over the weekend. Tickets start at $0 and vary by location. Explore five historic cemeteries and hear the stories of those buried there.
Oct. 26, 2024: Cleveland Monsters vs. Rochester Americans Home Opener
The hockey season home opener will be held at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at 7 p.m.. Tickets start at $10 with the Cavs & Monsters Student Pass.
Oct. 26, 2024: Downtown Cleveland Fall Fun Days
Held in Public Square and hosted by Downtown Cleveland from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Activities include mini pumpkin painting, coloring pages, crafts, and Cleveland Public Library Book Bike and story time for family fun.
Cleveland Area:
Oct. 5, 2024: Open Air on Market Square
Organized by Cleveland Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Market Square. Shop local and handmade items at the final open-air market of the year!
Oct. 7, 2024: Jim Henson’s Labyrinth – In Concert
A touring live performance to accompany Jim Henson’s musical film “Labyrinth” at 7 p.m. at the Agora Theater. Experience the ’80s cult classic film, with the iconic soundtrack performed by a live band on stage, accompanied by David Bowie’s legendary vocals.
Oct. 8, 2024: Hispanic Works of Art Across Time and Place
Presented by the Cleveland Museum of Art from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ames Family Atrium. Learn about a selection of authentic works of art from the CMA’s Education Art Collection with lessons from art educators.
Oct. 11-13, 2024: Latino International Film Festival by LatinUs
Showings at a variety of times over the weekend at the LatinUs Blackbox. As the first-ever festival of its kind organized by LatinUs, it aims to “showcase diverse voices, stories, and perspectives through a curated selection of films that highlight the Latino community’s cultural, social, and artistic contributions.”
Oct. 12, 2024: City Market at City Goods | Vintage Edition
Hosted at City Goods from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., shoppers can explore the pop-up fall market while enjoying music from local musicians with a focus on all things vintage
Oct. 18, 2024: Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics
Held at the Maltz Performing Arts Center at 8:30 p.m. with ticket prices starting at $30. This event is one of many in the Candlelight series, performing Halloween classics in an immersive, candlelit setting.
Oct. 18, 2024: Third Friday Art Walk
Led by 78th Street Studios from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., this free monthly event highlights two city blocks of art gallery and studio openings, where viewers are free to enjoy exhibits, shopping, food and live music.
