Design: Martina Cass | The Cauldron

Students may find it difficult to keep track of and coordinate for all that happens around them on campus. This monthly collection of local arts & entertainment is meant to provide a varied starting point, including dates, times, locations, prices and more, so hopefully, everyone can find something of interest and plan to attend! 

November’s events offer an array of music, holiday shopping and displays that are sure to warm the heart even as the weather gets colder.

On Campus:

Oct. 31-Nov. 10, 2024: Urinetown The Musical

Presented by Cleveland State University at the Allen Theater in Playhouse Square, students at CSU can purchase tickets for $10 using the code FBCSU. Enjoy this comedic musical satire and support CSU students on stage.

Nov. 8, 2024: CABsino

Hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Student Center. CABsino is one of the most anticipated yearly events hosted by CAB, and the theme of this year’s event will be revealed closer to the event.

Nov. 22, 2024: Queer Prom

Hosted by the Queer Student Alliance from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Come as your true self to celebrate love, diversity and self-expression while spending the evening dancing and making memories.

Downtown:

Oct. 26, 2024-Spring 2025: The Band Art Instillation

See this brand-new interactive art installation at the Cleveland Public Library downtown. Designed by FriendsWithYou, this installation features five large-scale autonomous robots that respond to visitors’s actions and sounds. This blend of creativity and AI technology is meant to spread joy to visitors of all ages.

Nov. 5, 2024: Election Day

Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections is located blocks away from CSU, where county citizens can cast their vote in person or turn in un-sent absentee ballots. 

Nov. 5-24, 2024: Some Like It Hot

The Tony-winning musical comedy comes to the Connor Palace as a part of the KeyBank Broadway series. Tickets range in price starting at $30. The glittering musical adaptation of the classic 1959 film also includes a free pre-show talk with Broadway Buzz.

Nov. 16-17, 2024: Chabrier’s L’étoile

Presented by the Cleveland Institute of Music at Westfield Studio Theater, enjoy this classic piece of opera theater. Witness the story of King Ouf, his kingdom and his fate.

Nov. 28, 2024: Cleveland Turkey Trot

The 43rd annual Cleveland Turkey Trot is presented by Onyx Health Club, and the 5-mile track will be primarily downtown including part of Ohio City. Proceeds go to local charities, and whether running or cheering on friends, this is a festive community event.

Nov. 30, 2024: WinterLand Tree Lighting Ceremony

Kick off the holiday season between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Public Square with a live stage show, the lighting of thousands of lights, and a finale of fireworks. The event is free, as is WinterLand for the rest of the season.

Cleveland Area:

Nov. 6-9, 2024: The 17th Annual Cleveland Comedy Festival

Enjoy four nights of comedy featuring over 40 comedians at nine different venues across Cleveland. Tickets vary in price, and shows start each evening at 5:30 p.m. 

Nov. 9, 2024: club classixcx: a charli party

Mahall’s presents a night of dancing at 8 p.m. featuring DJs Angel Dust & French Tip and music by Charli xcx, Troye Sivan and the 90s. The event is 18+ and tickets are $15 for general admission.  

Nov. 11-17, 2024: Cleveland Pizza Week

Enjoy $9 pizza all week from over 35 participating restaurants around Cleveland. Both the website and accompanying app provide more information on participating restaurants, availability and hours.

Nov. 16, 2024: Nassau Astronomy Night with CVAS

Join the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society at Observatory Park from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in viewing the night sky using their restored telescope. The event is free, and is one of many events hosted at Observatory Park offering a glimpse into the universe, away from the lights of the city.

Nov. 14-Dec. 30, 2024: Wild Winter Lights

Displayed at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, this experience features over 1.5 million lights in holiday-themed arrangements. Both walk-through and drive-through tickets are available and can be purchased on the zoo’s website.

Nov. 22-24, 2024: 2024 Christmas Connection

Hosted at the I-X Center, Cleveland’s largest Christmas show and shopping experience offers three full days of vendors, live music and Cleveland’s tallest Santa. Admission is $12 if purchased before November 22.

Nov. 23, 2024-Jan. 5, 2025: FROST: An Ice-Capped Garden Experience

Included in admission to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, this wintery display consists of both indoor and outdoor light displays. This immersive experience includes various crafts, the yearly Gingerbread competition with over 100 pieces, as well as live music on certain days of the week.
