Tucked away in a small alcove of the Statler building on Euclid Ave is a small coffee bar.

Formerly known as The Copper Moon, The Brass Moon has faced its fair share of controversy over the past few months. At the beginning of 2025, The Brass Moon coffee bar was sued by an Indiana coffee company called Copper Moon. Accusing The Brass Moon for trademark infringement and unfair competition. As well as defamation of the Indiana company’s name.

Back in January 2025, the Brass Moon became the target of negative internet discourse

A viral Tik Tok video posted in the spring of 2024 claimed that the barista at The Brass Moon refused service to a customer presumably buying coffee for a homeless person. Saying that it was against company policy.

The local Cleveland coffee bar has been slowly reintroducing itself back into the coffee scene as The Brass Moon. Despite the coffee bar’s brief and controversial history it still stands as one of Downtown Cleveland’s hidden gems.

The Brass Moon is a short ten minute walk from the student center and is the perfect spot for an afternoon pick-me-up. With a warm atmosphere and unique phallic theme, the mini coffee bar is a mix of cozy and strange.

Looking around, a customer may not see anything out of the ordinary, but upon further investigation it becomes clear that the coffee bar has many hidden phallic objects around the cafe, from 3D-printed scrotums to hidden penis fidget toys.

Customers can enjoy sipping on spiced chai lattes while playing a risky game of eye spy.

The Brass Moon is also a spot for college students on a tight budget. Unlike many coffee shops that charge more than $7 for a large latte The Brass Moon has a wide variety of tasty and affordable drinks. A customer can buy a large chai latte and a pastry for $8.
