Cleveland State University (CSU) kicked off the fall 2025 semester with seven open felonies, among other crimes reported during the festive Week of Welcome. Theft was the leading crime.

On Sunday, Aug. 24, incidents of theft of credit cards/checks, misuse of credit cards, criminal damaging or endangering, and motor vehicle trespass were reported around 5:30 p.m. at Central Garage. These constitute four of the week’s seven open felonies.

A report made on Tuesday, Aug. 26 lists two additional open felonies for theft and misuse of credit cards in the Business College. The final open felony for the week reports an incident of vandalism in the Science Building on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

A report of theft in Berkman Hall was made Monday morning at 8:40 a.m. and remains open. Another incident of theft was reported in Lot 22/Student Center Garage on Thursday, Aug. 28, featuring a charge of motor vehicle trespass. These two charges also remain open.

Using the 60-day crime log, available in person at the CSU Police Department and online, students can access the list of crimes from the past week. Below, they have been compiled into one list.

According to the CSU Police Department website, CSU publishes this information “as part of Cleveland State University’s commitment to a safe and informed campus community,” and it is in compliance with the Federal Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 (renamed the Jeanne Clery Act in 1998) and the Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act.
