Sports Weekly at Cleveland State: weeks one and two

With the academic year beginning at Cleveland State University, many CSU campus sports have begun looking towards their upcoming seasons. 

There’s plenty to look forward to as a sports fan on CSU’s campus. 12 out of Cleveland State’s 15 programs have had their schedule released. Of those 12, five have begun their season. 

Cleveland State soccer has kicked off to a rough start. The Vikings women’s team has started off 0-6-0, losing their first six matchups without a point in retaliation. The men’s team has recorded a record of 1-2-1 at this point in the season. 

Volleyball at Cleveland State begins with a record of 3-3, and the team is gearing up to play in their first game in Ohio on Sept. 10. 

Cross Country placed sixth in the Wright State University Mike Baumer Invitational XC Meet, among 15 participating teams. 

Vikings Golf started in Nashport, at the Bowling Green Invite, concluding with CSU finishing 10th out of 12th and 12th out of 12th between two days. 

CSU’s Swim and Dive team will be the next program to officially start its season, beginning in a tri-meet against both Youngstown State and Indiana University Indianapolis (IU Indy) in the IU Indy Natatorium on Sept. 11.
